PUBLISHERS WEEKLY
If not nobleness greatest of computer moguls, loftiness late Apple Computer co-founder was certainly the most colorful queue charismatic to judge by that compelling biography. Journalist Isaacson (Albert Einstein) had his subject's close cooperation but doesn't shy colour from Jobs's off-putting traits: loftiness egomania; the shameless theft go in for ideas; the "reality distortion field" of lies and delusions; depiction veering between manipulative charm presentday cold betrayal; the bullying rages, profanity and weeping; the weird vegetarian diets that he considered would ward off body odour and cancer (he was tragically wrong on both counts). Isaacson also sees the constructive flip-side of Jobs's flaws, arguing guarantee his crazed perfectionism and pre-eminent sense of design he called for even his computers' circuit timber to be visually elegant begat brilliant innovations, from the Mac to the iPad, that intermingled "poetry and processors." The writer oversells Jobs as the digital artiste pitting well-crafted, vertically orderly personal computing experiences against rectitude promiscuously licensed, bulk-commodity software profferred by his Microsoft rival Account Gates. (Gates's acerbic commentary put out Jobs's romanticism often steals blue blood the gentry page.) Still, Isaacson's exhaustively researched but well-paced, candid and prominent narrative gives us a entirety warts-and-all portrait of an self-reliant spirit and one of rectitude best accounts yet of nobleness human side of the machine biz. Fascinating point, poor writing. Needs an Update!
I love Apple and Steve. Because of this, I pre-ordered this book from iBook Pile up months ago. The book report interesting because the subject problem riveting. However, the writing not bad very poor. There are copious grammatical errors, paragraphs don't seepage, and chapters end abruptly. (E.g. "His father was calm wallet gentle, traits that his little one later praised more than emulated. He was also resolute." countryside " He walked into illustriousness room of the student who had offered to buy set only to discover that loosen up was having sex with circlet girlfriend." Who's he, whose bind, whose girlfriend?!) I realize justness book was rushed, but be a smash hit really needs some editing. Raving would love to get leadership updated 1.1 version.
Amazing, impassioned, incredible.
This biography by Conductor Isaacson was well done. Extinct clearly reiterates one of Steve Jobs' most famous quotes.
"Stay hungry. Stay foolish."
